A new graphite study focused on texture and form. This ancient, gnarled tree provided the perfect subject to explore the full range of a new tool: a recently acquired set of Hi-Uni art pencils.
The objective was to render the intense, complex texture of the bark in high detail, contrasting it with the soft, atmospheric haze of the background. I was incredibly impressed with the pencils’ ability to handle both the faintest lines and the deepest, richest blacks without gloss. A successful test and a rewarding study.
